Suomi-koulun joulujuhlaa vietettiin 18.12.2010 iloisissa merkeissä. Paikalle oli saapunut runsas yleisö ja esiintyjissä vilahteli jos jonkinmoista metsäneläintä.

Finnish School held the traditional celebratory Christmas party on December 18th, 2010. A large crowd had gathered to watch the performers, who appeared under the guise of various forest animals.

Torstain ryhmä herätteli nukkuvaa karhua.

Thursday group tried to wake up a slumbering bear.

Satun ryhmän puput ja ketut esittivät "Oravalla veitikalla"-piirileikin.

Bunnies and foxes from Satu's group performed "Oravalla veitikalla" dance about a squirrel.

Kannelryhmä esiintyi upeasti Sadun johdolla.

The kantele group performed magnificently under Satu's guidance.

Mari's group passed a candle around in the forest. The elves first took it to the bunnies, who hopped with it to the wolf. The wolf took the candle to the bear who passed it on to fairies. They returned the candle to the elves.

Jennin ryhmäläiset kertoivat mikä joulussa on ihanaa. Ihanaa on muunmuassa syödä joulupuuroa (nam!), saada lahjoja ja nähdä tonttuja kurkistelemassa.

Jenni's group talked about what is wonderful about Christmas. Among those things were to eat Christmas porridge (yum!), to get presents and to see elves peeking around the corner.

Lopulta koitti kauan odotettu hetki. Joulupukki saapui paikalle! Hän pysähtyi täällä Seattlessa matkalla Kaliforniaan, jossa hänellä oli sunnuntaina paikallisen Suomi-koulun juhla.

And then, the time had finally come: Santa Claus paid a visit! He stopped here in Seattle on his way to California, where he is going to attend another Finnish School party on Sunday.

Mari toimi ansiokkaana juhlan juontajana ja haastattelee tässä pukkia.

Mari was our accomplished announcer and interviewed Santa.

Pukki jakoi kaikille koululaisille makoisat lahjapussit. Tämän jälkeen olikin sitten aika siirtyä herkusta notkuvan kahvipöydän ääreen. Sieltä löytyi torttuja, pipareita, pullaa, suklaakakkua ja vaikka mitä muuta herkkua.

Santa gave each student a tasty gift bag. Then it was time to pay a visit to the coffee table that was about to give under all the goodies loaded onto it! Everyone enjoyed traditional Finnish plum pastries, gingerbread cookies, pulla, chocolate cake and all other kinds of treats.

Kiitos kaikille juhlaan osallistuneille!

Thank you all who took part in the celebrations!
