Sen perinteet ulottuvat historiallisiin sadonkorjuujuhliin. Yhdysvalloissa kiitospäivää on vietetty marraskuun neljäntenä torstaina aina vuodesta 1789 alkaen. Tänä vuonna juhlitaan 26.11.09. Keskeinen kiitospäivän perinne on kalkkuna-ateria.
Finnish school's crafts dove straight into Thanksgiving atmosphere this week. This big American festivity is celebrated as a sign of gratitude toward yearly harvest. Its traditions go all the way back to historical harvest celebrations. Thanksgiving has been celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November ever since 1789. This year the day falls on November 26. A central Thanksgiving tradition is a turkey dinner.
